Früher, als nur mittels Eisblöcken gekühlt werden konnte, wurde im März ein kräftigeres, malzwürziges Bier eingebraut, das den höheren Temperaturen im Lagerkeller während des Sommers standhielt. Märzenbier war zu den Festen im Oktober beliebt.

* Old rating. Best before 24.12.10. The beer is malty-sweetish, hints of grain with a moderate bitterness in the aftertaste. Nice Märzen.

Pours a slightly hazy yellow amber with a small white lightly lacing head. Aroma of caramel, light fruits and hops.

Bottle looks simple, but good. The beer in the glass deep golden, short living head. Starts malty-spicy, strong, some wheaty notes. Finish milder, a bit dry, not as spicy as the beginning, a bit pils-like. Okay.

Bottle (copyright by Stefan!): Deep golden to light amber coloured, quite stable (off-)white head; caramalty and nutty nose with a "woody" hoppy background; light to moderate sweet-bitter flavour, light to medium bodied; fruity-nutty and delicate hoppy finish. Good, archetypal Märzen....

(screw cap bottle) Clear, deep golden colour with a mid-sized and slightly tanned foamy head. Moderately sweet cara-malty aroma with nutty accents, accompanied by shades of herbal and woody hops. Mildly sweet flavour, medium to light bodied with a smooth carbonation. Aromatic and hearty cara-malty base with nutty and hoppy notes; medium-dry sweet-bitter and delicately woody hoppy finish. Very good. 16.XI.10
