On tap at the brewpub. An unclear, dark golden colored beer with a minimal-sized off-white head. The aroma has lots of peaches, with citrus peel and a solid maltyness in the back. Hints of acetone. It’s full-bodied and lightly warming on the palate, with a nice carbonation level. It’s sweet on the palate, yet balanced by the bitterness and the flavors of canned peaches and citrus peel. Lasting bitter, malty sweet and citrusy finish. Except for some higher alcohol in the aroma, it’s a quite nice American style Barley Wine. 141127

Light brown with light haze. Can smell the sticky sweet fruity maltiness from quite far away. Thick, warming, syrupy, rich. Very sweet but has a mysteriously strong bitterness in the finish.

Clear caramel/nutty golden color with a fine off white head. Ahhhh mmmm that is what my brain thinks when that lovely fruity and hoppy aroma hits my nose. Lovely and balanced. Full body and a soft carbonation. Fine balance between bitterness and sweetness. Not to powerful sweet. A bit oily texture. Lovely fruity and grapefruit hoppy flavor. Powerful and balanced. Yet quite fresh and easy drinkable. One of my favorites from Crowbar. But feels more like an Double IPA. Well masked alcohol.

As Bitter Juice. Barley Wine no. 1 (first one in a series of three). Poured from tap at the brewpub. Bubbly beige head on top of hazy, dark golden body. Satisfying lacing. Aroma of sweet apricot. Strong hoppy taste joined by herbs and malty sweetness. Malt-fruity ending. OK, rather heavy to drink though (Oslo 19.07.2014).
