Cask 1/3 pint at the 46th Cambridge Beer Festival, 2019. ABV 4.9%. Very dark brown colour, beige head. Roasty / malty aroma. The flavour is both distinctly roasty and distinctly fruity, with a good bitterness.

23/2/2019. Cask at the Great British Winter Beer Festival 2019, Norwich. Pours dark brown with a bubbly beige head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, toffee, nut and black treacle. Moderate sweetness, medium plus roasted bitterness. Medium body, slight oily texture, soft carbonation. Dry, roasted, bitter finish. Very good.

500ml bottle. Pours dark brown with a minimal beige head. Aroma of dark malts, roast, dark chocolate. Taste of dark roast malts, fruity, dark chocolate, dryish bittersweet finish. Medium body, soft carbonation. A good no frills porter.

Pours a clear dark brown colour with a small frothy light tan head. Aroma is roasted malt, toast and a little coffee. A roasted malt taste, with toasted bread, coffee flavours. A moderate dry bitterness in the finish.

Cask at Water Witch. Pours a clear deep amber brown with a tan head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has dark grains and a strong roasted malt note with a touch of sweetness backing. Flavor has dark grains and roasted malts with a hint of chocolate supporting.

Cask. A good porter with a lovely colour and plenty of burnt malt on the nose and palate. It was surprisingly refreshing and after the initial surprise following the pour, very welcome and tasty.

500ml bottle. Clear, darkest brown colour with small to average, thick, creamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, off-white to beige head. Roasty dark malty and fruity hoppy aroma, Notes of chocolate, treacle, hints of liquorice, dark berries, a touch of red berries. Taste is roasty dark malty, slightly fruity hoppy, notes of chocolate, a touch of liquorice, hints of dark berries, a minimally leafy touch; minimally watery.

Bottled. A brown beer with a brown head. The aroma has notes of malt, alcohol, and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel, and roasted malt, leading to a bitter finish.
