Large sample at the 4th International Beer Swap, De Bierboom, Brugge on 5th Feb 2016. Dark brown with a decent and lasting off-white/beige head. Malty nose and flavour with a hint of dark chocolate in both the aroma and taste. Gave my taste buds a break from heavy alcohol brews on the night and I thank whoever brought this to the table.

500ml Bottle from Hawkshead Beer Hall - Near black body, bit of a reddy brown tint, thin white head. Nose is roasted malt, smoky wood cinders and freshly ground coffee. Taste has a bitter-sweet quality to it, a bit of dried fruits, toast, followed by a roasty-bitter aftertaste. A little thin, but I’ll forgive it. Enjoyable stout.
