Cask at the Cask, Pimlico, 07/03/14. Dark chestnut brown with a moderate tan covering that clears to the edge. Nose is treacle toffee, biscuit malt, liqourice, syrup. Taste comprises light woody tones, cocoa dusting, light roast, dark toffee, hint of papyrus. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, drying close. Solid enough crossover stylee, had it down as an ESB as I started to rate it but when I saw it was a stout on RB I could begin to appreciate some stoutlike qualities.

Aroma: Creamy coffee with hints of red fruit.

Appearance: Ruby body with a thick tan head. Flat carbonation. Great lacing.

Taste: Coffee, chocolate and a hint of blackcurrant. Very light flavour for a Porter - not too rich or heavy.

Palate: Thin body with a slick, oily mouthfeel. Flat carbonation.

Overall: The brewery tap described this as a Porter, not a Stout. Either way, it’s a light version of the style. Smooth, well balanced and very drinkable.

Half pint shared with Finn at NWAF. Deep dark brown body. Dissipating layer. Aroma of roasted malts with a little touch of fruity tartness beneath. Roasted taste profile containing dark fruits, dusty hops and spices, mid-sweet. Bittersweet chocolate end. Fine bodied and likable (Manchester, 25.01.2013).
