Flavour: A full bodied ruby red ale with subtle chocolate malt character.
Brewed with pale, wheat, crystal and chocolate malts, this is a rich, full bodied ruby red ale, bursting with complex flavours. Citrus, fruit and spice aromas dominate.

Handpull cask at the Salutation, Doncaster. Dark brownish red, very clear with a white head. Lots of lacing. Not much scent. Some malt, berry, forest floor... noticeably metallic. Taste is an acrid bitter which later softens to a pleasant fruity sweetness. But it’s too late. A lingering acrid note at the end. A real let down.

Cask @ Flowerpot, Mirfield. Golden-blonde with a creamy-smooth head. Lightly malty in both aroma and taste with a few darker tasting malts involved.

Cask at The Three Pigeons. Pours clear reddish-brown, thick off-white head. Big fruity aroma, touch of toffee. Quite chewy, texture-wise, but in a good way. Light spice at the end. Nice.

Cask handpull at The Ale House, Chelmsford. Ruby red/brown colour with a small white head. Malt chocolate evident, mixed with citrus and somewhat too bitter. I found this beer a little too muddled for my liking.

Cask at the Red Lion in the Jewelery Quarter, Birmingham. Reddish brown clear pour with a thin white frothy head. A hint of spicy hops in the aroma which pretty much dominates the flavour too. I'm not a fan of red ales, but this example was more than drinkable by virtue of its spicy liqourice palate.

Gravity dispense at the twelfth Twickenham Beer Festival - 18/10/12. Clear russett brown with a thin bubbly off white head. Biscuit malts on the nose and a hoppy aroma. Tastes of caramel, biscuit, light grapefruit notes, hops. Medium bodied with a bitter dry finish.

Half pint, cask ale at The Hop in Leeds. Good looking with a body that is golden-brown,covered by a decent fawn-coloured head blanketing the top level of the glass. Smell of berries and bread-like malts. Jam-like flavour from a fine blend of dark fruits and dark malts. Dusty hoppy ending. Good (12.07.2012).
