Cask handpull at Market Porter. Reddish brown clear with lasting beige head. Nicely bitter on the finish. Touch of dry ashy malt. It’s ok. Just a touch harsh. Some fruit. It grew on me and outside the hoppy blond Ossett normal terriotory.

Cask at the Euston Tap. Pours clear amber with a soft, white head. Aroma holds some toasted malts, light berry fruits and some twiggy, earthy hops. Moderately sweet, with faint hints of caramel and toffee, some lightly toasted malts, followed by earth and grass bitters. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly dry, earthen hop finish with off-setting, malty sweetness. Nicely balanced all around. Solid.

From cask at University Arms. Pours deep amber with a small, tan and creamy dense head. Aroma is roasted malt, breadish and slight caramel. Smooth malt flavour, caramel to toffee and with a subdued sweetness. Light bitterness showing through. Ends dry and malty.

Cask, Telegraph Inn, New Brighton. Mid toned copper colour with a thin tan head and some lace. Subdued sweet malt aroma with traces of dog blanket and spice. Flavour had some fruit in evidence and was on the thin side with mild bitterness towards the finish. So so.

Cask at the Nascot Arms, Watford. Reddish copper with a thin off-white head; fruity and malty aroma; sweet with chewy malts and some red fruit flavours; the finish is dry and slightly spicy. OK, but rather boring.

(Cask at Cask Pub & Kitchen, Pimlico, London, 27 Nov 2009) Reddish brown colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty nose with red berries, coffee and toasty malt. Malty taste with notes of dark fruit, red berries, hints of roasted coffee and a slightly spicy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, balanced sweetness. Solid and nice with emphasis on the maltier side.

Cask at the Cask Pub & Kitchen, London on 13th November 2009. Amber with diminishing off white head. Grassy hop aromas are tempered by a cookie biscuity maltiness. The two do not fight or cancel each other out, but flavour the beer harmoniously side by side to give a delicious easy drinking ale just over session strength. pleasant, slightly zingy mouthfeel and a hoppy finish. A good pint.

Cask-conditioned at the Crown & Kettle, Manchester 10/06/09. Reddish amber in colour with a decent, off-white head. Malty red fruit and milk chocolate aroma. Sweetish flavour, with more fruit and chocolate and a pleasantly bitter finish. Good stuff.
