Tief schwarz schimmernd und mit einem beigefarbenen, imposanten Schaum überzeugt diese urfränkische Bamberger Kultbiersorte in seiner Optik. Ein deutlicher Geruch nach Rauch, der sich prägnant in der Nase zeigt und dahinter eine ausgewogene, fruchtige Hopfennote aus feinsten Hallertauer Aromahopfen, lässt sich erkennen. Der rauchige Geschmack entsteht durch die Verwendung von Buchenholz während der Trocknung des Malzes. Am Gaumen finden der samtige Geschmack von Lakritze, geräuchertem Schinken, dunkler Schokolade und röstigen Karamellnuancen liebevoll zueinander. Eine echte Spezialität für Kenner und Liebhaber dieser ursprünglichen Biersorte.

16oz. Poured a cola brown color with a small white head. Aroma was roasted malts, light smoke. Caramel, bready notes. Light smoke finish. Liked this.

50cl can from the Costco advent calendar. Rootbeer brown, ring of white head. Big smoke and sausage nose, caramel and cream soda, a little plastic. Flavor is mostly smoke with some dark bread. Something industrial lurks. Dry, heavy smoke finish. A little tinny.

Bottle, 0.33l. Aroma of smoke, leather, roasted malt and caramel with umami note. Pours almost black color with thick soapy light brown head and average sparkling appearance. Taste starts with medium sweet smoked roasted malt and caramel, following is leathery, umami and slightly herbal, mouthfeel is smooth, while finish is pretty bitter. 330 ml bottle. Unclear chestnut brown with a big stable fluffy head. Smoked juniper ham (Bayerischer Wacholderschinken), caramel, roasted, dark bread, dark candy sugar, lemon zest. Malty sweetness, umami, dry zesty bitterness. Medium bodied, oily watery texture, soft carbonated, dry smoky bittersweet finish. Nice Rauchbier!

From advent calendar. Rich brown pour and creamy beige head. Nose is lots of hammy smoke. Tastes of bacon, ash, chocolate, caramel, malty. Creamy mouthfeel.

Can 16 from the CostCo Advent box. Pours dark brown with a huge foamy tan head. Aroma is quite smoky. Med body. Malt is slightly roasty and very smoky. There's a hop note I can't place. Good brew.
