Tief schwarz schimmernd und mit einem beigefarbenen, imposanten Schaum überzeugt diese urfränkische Bamberger Kultbiersorte in seiner Optik. Ein deutlicher Geruch nach Rauch, der sich prägnant in der Nase zeigt und dahinter eine ausgewogene, fruchtige Hopfennote aus feinsten Hallertauer Aromahopfen, lässt sich erkennen. Der rauchige Geschmack entsteht durch die Verwendung von Buchenholz während der Trocknung des Malzes. Am Gaumen finden der samtige Geschmack von Lakritze, geräuchertem Schinken, dunkler Schokolade und röstigen Karamellnuancen liebevoll zueinander. Eine echte Spezialität für Kenner und Liebhaber dieser ursprünglichen Biersorte.

Hazy brown with a tan head. Aroma of big smoked malt, smokey bacon and toffee. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

tap at the brewpub and bottled. Deep brown, almost black with an incredibly cremay beige head. Smooth and velvety palate, loads of smoky goodness, shy sweetness with a touch of toffee and caramel, also a chocolate touch. Shy earthy hops in the finish. Superb, one of the best smoked lagers I've tasted in Franconia - pure delight! Absolutely delicious!

Bottle 500ml. w. swing top @ home. [ As Klosterbräu Bamberger Rauchbier ]. Clear dark brown colour with a large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, sweet malt, roasted, dark malt, meat, smoke. Flavor is moderate sweet with a long duration, roasted - dark roasted, burnt, smoked, dark malt, hay. Tap @ Brewery, Bamberg. Pours nearly Black with a creamy head. A bit of roast, caramel and Dark fruity nose and flavor and plenty of Bamberg smoke, thinking of Schlenkerla mainly. Smooth though quite heavy. Solid offering.
