Bottle. Dark brown pour. Aroma of vineus red grape, caramel, figs, dates, raisin, oaky vanilla, malt, yeast and soft tannines. Taste has rich sticky red grape, oaky vanilla, caramelised malt, dates, figs, raisin, boozy vineus red fruit, port wine and a rich boozy finish. Delicious dessert wine-ish beer.

Bottle. It pours a pretty dark body for a Quad, very close to black, with a rather minimalistic beige head on top. The aroma has a good dash of alcohol and feels vinous, yet with lots of lovely Quad scents. Dark dried fruits like raisin and prune, blue plums, some caramel, a roasted touch and some licorice hints. Woody hints too. It's full-bodied, very smooth and far from as warming as one might expect considering the ABV. It's sweet in the mouth, with flavors of brown sugar, licorice, toffee, prunes, red wine, some woody notes and a lingering sweet, vinous finish. Perhaps the alcohol level and barrel treatment cloakes some of complexity of the beer, but that doesn't really matter, as it's a real treat to both nose and taste buds, and it warms gently from the mouth and far down the throat. A real gem of a beer. 200916

De vaste kijkers herinneren zich vast m'n "rode wijn is kut" uitspraak. Dit bier bewijst m'n ongelijk. Fantastische quadrupel dit. Heerlijk zacht, zoet, rood fruit. Bijna een beetje Schramms-achtig. Geniaal.

Draught @ Fox & Hounds, Sønderborg, on Øllets Dag 2020. Pours hazy bery dark brown with airy tan head. Clear sroma of barrel, yeast and dried fruit, with malty notes. Sweetish flavour of malt, fruit and yeast, with notesnof barrel, vanilla and alcohol and hintsnof roast. Lingering, sweetish, barrellike aftertaste with malty, estery and fruity notes. Warming alcohol presence. Heady but tasty and well-balanced. Good stuff.

One of the best things with this one was the carbonation level Smooth and fine. Not much and not to soft Made it dangerously refreshing Black pour with a small head. Nice intensity in the aroma Balanced ok sweetness for a beer like this Dark malt, dried fruits, port vinous, wood and some molasses [Bottle from Vinmonopolet Oslo City in Oslo, Norway]

Gir ganglag for sjelen. Takk til seremonimester Melberg for denne, en superb markering av min rating nr. 10.000!

Shared bottle at Cardinal, Stavanger. Pours almost black with beige head. Aroma of liquorice, oak, dark dried fruits. Tastes pretty sweet with little bitterness. Medium bodied, sweet finish. Far too sweet for my palate.
