Fresh and hoppy with a crisp citrus finish; essentially spring in a pint glass.
My Generation was launched in 2015 by two Black Sheep directors and Jonny Kirkham as a separate company to Black Sheep. Since 2019, Jonny Kirkham has been a director at Black Sheep, and the My Generation brand is no longer regarded as a distinct company, though for marketing purposes is still presented that way. The beers have always been brewed and distributed by Black Sheep.

Cask at the Bath House, Cambridge. Mid-gold with a small white head. Lots and lots of lacing. Eggy, cheesy, buttery aroma. Everything you don’t want from a golden beer. There’s an improvement in a sweet, nutty taste, but it’s not enough to raise this beer above mediocrity. The finish is long, more butter, caramel, yeast roll. Not all that good.

Cask at the White Hart, Holyport, Maidenhead. I see that there are very mixed reviews for this, but I thought it was rather good. A pale amber colour with a loose white head; malty aroma with a touch of citrus; nice balance between the malts and a grapefruity bitterness; and a clean crisp grapefruit finish with lingering chewy malts. Good to see that the hops don’t dominate.

Cask @ Old Wellington, Manchester. Amber with a small bubbly head. Thin and weak, although it still manages to retain an amber ale texture and taste... just. There’s certainly citrus orange in here with a fair nose in this respect. Could not finish the ale though.

On cask at the Haymarket. Appearance - golden with a proportionate head. Nose - oranges and a fresh grassy note. Taste - tangy orange and lemon. Werthers Original. Palate - close to medium bodied with a tangy texture and a long tangy finish which has elements of sweet and bitter. Overall - decent pale which peaked on nose.

4.2% cask at the haymarket. Pours clear pale gold, thin white head. Light lemon, orange, pine aromas, light sugar note. Taste is light sweet, more fresh orange hoppiness, but not bitter. Light body, creamy texture. Bitterness builds nicely as it goes down. Nice.
