Bourbon Barrel-Aged Chocolate Coffee Stout
KBS gets its coffee fix in the very first variant to come from our beloved bourbon barrel-aged stout. Yes, KBS may already be brewed with coffee, but it gets some extra oomph when it’s aged on espresso beans after being removed from barrels. The result is a fresh and snappy coffee twist on our classic barrel-aged beer. Who says you can’t start your day with a barrel-aged stout?

Sugary, Coffee, Chocolate, Mellow Warming Smooth Booze. Sweet, Sugary, Chocolate, Lasting Coffee and Warming Booze Sting Aftertaste. Smooth And Easy Going. Not Sure What It Would Have Been Fresh... Bought It Without Realizing It Is Already 5 years Old. Aged Well. Good. Enjoyed It. Recommended...

(Five variant KBS vertical) Poured from 355mL bottle (bottled 10.21.20 - 12%). Very dark brown with small beige head. Coffee bean forward, mild chocolate, loses a bit of the body of original KBS, but still a solid base.

Dark brown. Not much head. Lots of espresso, somewhat green, but also big. Good body, nice sweetness, big roast, and this finishes with a chocolate, coffee note. Good.

22 January 2022. Bottle from Gedeelde Vreugde. Bottled: 23/4/2020. Cloudy black, stable, frothy, dark beige head. Strong aroma of mocha, coffee grounds, milk chocolate, chocolate powder, dark fudge, prune, toast, brown bread, vague green apple, Irish coffee. Taste has sweet prune, date & (green) apple in a malt body of chocolate (powder), brown bread, peanut & chestnut; roasted notes of coffee and something umami. Earthy hoppy finish, more powerful bitter espresso, coffee powder, dark chocolate and some dried fruit, woody too due to the warming bourbon alcohol. Full body, oily texture, soft carbonation. A high-end coffee Stout so to say; utterly luxurious.

Pours pitch black with a firm brown head. Aroma's: big roast, espresso, a little bit red fruit. Retronasal it's roast, strong coffee, boozy, light bourbon and wood. Flavour is light moderate sweet and moderate roasty bitter. Medium bodied. Fairly strong alcohol feel, but not burning. Long finish with lots of roast, moderate bitter.
