Deep ruby brown with a frothy off-white head, and a malty aroma with a feint hint of chocolate. The taste is classic Northern mild, on the watery side, with a fruit and nut malty flavour, alongside a little roasted malt, and a lasting fruity finish.

Bottle courtesy of SimonTomlinson via the RB EU 2019-3 trade. Deep auburn with a creamy, light beige head. Mild caramel and ash aroma. Dry and mildly bitter with lingering woodsmoke at the end. Faint berry tartness. Medium body, balanced carbonation. A nice one.

Cask at Herbert Wells Spoons in Woking. Low key malty chocolate aroma. Dark brown. Creamy beige head. Light bitter. A hint of berry sourness but predominantly malty. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Flat carbonation. Abrupt finish. Serviceable mild.

Bottle from Booths, Keswick. Clear ruby/brown body with a thin beige head that holds well. Steady carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of raisin, wood and milk chocolate. Flavour of stewed tea and cigar. Thin body with a sticky mouthfeel. Soft fizz. Really tasty - I’m surprised it’s not been scored higher.
