550ml bottle from Ocado. Almost black with a long lasting tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, sweet chocolate, toffee. Taste is bittersweet from the chocolatey and roasted coffee-like malt, caramel, toffee, hints of dark fruit. Smooth. Pretty nice.

Cask at the Eldon Arms, Reading. Black with a thin beige head. Chocolate, malt, toffee, roastiness. Roastiness and bitterness grows in the finish, with a bit of plum coming through. Decent stout.

Backlog. Bottle shared with JMD at HNB 31.03.13. Black as tar, with a hint of red. Pale beige head. Aroma of roasted malt and dark toffee. Taste of of toffee, dark caramel, coffee and some bitterness. Long aftertaste of coffee, dark chocolate and some bitterness. Round and appropriately carbonated mouthfeel. Very high drinkability.

dark brown colour, huge, dense, stable beige head; aroma and taste of ash, some coffee, maybe cocoa and fruity notes - correct stout - though it would be great to know, why it is named as "Double Stout"

Flasche (50 cl) von Hopfen & Malz, Berlin. - Tiefstes Schwarzbraun mit rotem Schimmer. - In der Nase blaßherbe Röstnoten: Mokka, Milchschokolade, Asche. - Im Antrunk dünn und schlank röstmalzig: Mokka, Kakao, ein Hauch von Holzkohle. Sehr schlank, beinahe dünn im Mund. Im Abgang schön trocken mit erdig-holzigem Hopfen. Verspätet meldet sich auch noch etwas Malzsüße, die an kalten Kaffee erinnert. Zurück bleibt ein Nachtrunk von Holzkohle und Mokka. - Starke Röstaromen in dünner, fast wässriger Einbettung. Durchaus trinkbar, aber mein Lieblingsbier wird das nicht.

Bottle from Waitrose. Dark brown body with a thick beige head that holds well. Good lacing. Aroma of vanilla, dark chocolate and espresso. Flavour of creamy chocolate malt, salty biscuit and mashed pear. Medium body with a silky texture. Soft fizz. A smooth, simple Stout.
