Paxton IPA is dry hopped with charismatic Australian hops known for their distinctive orange bouquet and wild herbal undertones. Full of flavour and attitude this beer does not apologise for what it is: a hard hitting, fully hopped IPA.

WHAT’S IN A NAME

India Pale Ale was first brewed in Britain, in the early 19th century. Its high alcohol content and increased hop count helped preserve the beer, making it an ideal candidate for export. It was first shipped to India, where it wreaked havoc in the flying carpet industry, prompting local authorities to ban this particular mode of transport altogether.

Bonus voor het rare lipje dat eigenlijk best een goed idee is.

Can from Tesco. Amber in colour, with a slight haze and rocky, white, head. Aroma of citrus hops, tangerines and white pepper. Flavour had more fruit, solid malts with a surprising white toast character, leading to a dryish finish. Good.

An orange beer, a head is blond and big. Aroma has fruitness, citrus, also herbs, some caramel, not so fresh anymore. Taste has the same elements than in the aroma, fruitness of citrus, herbs, medium bitterness. Medium bodied. Decent.

Keg at the Barrel room. A hazed golden orange coloured pour with a frothy off white head. Aroma is semi sweet woody citrus, brown sugars, little burnt toffee, sticky orange rind. Flavour is composed of semi sweet toffee, cakey, malts, vanilla, orange rind. Little cakey. Palate is medium sweet, chewy, woody, moderate condition. Ok. Little flabby. Old school ipa.

Keg at LBF Barrel Room. It pours hazy deep amber - brown with a medium white head. The aroma is bitter - sweet, oily, toffee, varnish, resin, bit of plastic, wood and sweat. The taste is dry, bitter - sweet, toffee, orange marmalade, soapy. piney, resin, spice, chewy malt, earth, metallic notes and wet leaves with a drying finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Fair stuff. A bit malty for an IPA.

(Keg at Vastarannan Kiiski, 20170708) The beer poured amber and hazy. Its head was medium sized and nearly white. Aroma had fruitiness and creamy toffee. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, sweetness, creamy toffee, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet and bitter. A too sweet hoppy pale ale.
