Since its release in 2013 to celebrate our 170th anniversary, our lager, 1843 Craft Lager, has become one of our most popular brands. This is a classic 'craft' lager brewed using pale malt with some wheat added for extra body and mouth feel and traditional lager hops. It is gradually fermented at a much lower temperature and matured for 3 weeks in tank at an even lower temperature to produce a pleasant, light, refreshing beer. In 2018 - as part of our 175th anniversary - its name was changed to Malthouse Craft Lager.

Can from Secretts, Milford. Clear gold. Foamy white head initially starts off impressively before fading. Aroma has light citrus and damp corn. Uninspiring start. Flavourwise it's light sweet with a slightly sour edge, over soggy malts. Develops a more bitter and metallic streak. Light. Thin. Lively soft-fizzy carbonation. Long dry slightly astringent finish. Limp, even for a lager. If you'd told me it was AF free I would have believed you.

Keg, third at Swindon's 33rd Annual Beer Festival. Shared with Finn. Pearl white head, clear golden body, dotted spots on the glass. Vague smell of pale malts, dry. Perfumed pale malty taste, hints of cardboard to the ending. About drinkable. (26.10.2019).

Delt med Rune på Swindon´s 33rd annual Beer Festival 2019. Varm gyldengul. Middels høyt tett kritthvitt skum som dale sakte. Merkelig aroma. Vaskemiddel. Smaken det samme. Pyton.
