Bottle @ Fleming Arms, Southampton. Clear, pale yellow body with a small and fast disappearing white head. Sparkling carbonation. Mild aroma of light acidic green apples. Flavor is medium sweet green apples, some acidity, hint of wood and white sugar. Thin body and moderate in aftertaste. Refreshing but not very exciting.

Süß säuerlicher, etwas bitterer Apfelantrunk. Süffig, rund apfelig bleibend, ein wenig würzig, spritzig. Sehr gelungen. 10/9/9/9/12/9

33cl Flasche.

On draught at The Old Spring, Cambridge. Straw, clear and massively carbonated. Perfume/apple aroma: pleasant if somewhat artificial. The taste, by God, is good! Slight sourness cuts through the keg cider taste. Not a bad ping really.

Aspall English Suffolk Cider, 500 ml bottle from Yamaya on sale. A bright crystal clear light gold with no head. Semi-sweet apple aroma, a bit of a bready character with a bit of a tart character & some musty funk. Light bodied, smooth texture in the mouth quite nice. The taste is pretty balanced - sweet apple, an acidic tartness and a light dry finish. Pretty nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

500ml bottle from Tesco. Pours clear pale gold, no head, steady stream of bubbles. Aromas of... well... apples, light sour. Taste us thin, but more apples. Ok for a cider.

On keg at the Haymarket. Appearance - light golden with no head. Nose - dry citrus with elusive apples. Taste - sour cooking apples. Palate - medium bodied with a big tangy texture and a long dry and sour finish. Overall - yeah good for what is a commercial cider.

Bottle at the Hub on a hot summer’s day. Ripe juicy apples in the nose, nice deep golden color. Well balanced tartness and sweetness, apples, champagne, a bit too carbonated, but quite nice.

Clear, very pale straw colour. Slightly sour cider aroma. A bit fizzy mouthfeel. Reminiscent of simple sparkling wine. High drinkability.

On tap at the Greyhound, Pettistree, Suffolk. Very pale in colour- my wife said it looked like Chardonnay. It has a more than a hint of Chardonnay in the flavour too- a good fruitiness with some light summery floral notes and a little fresh apple. Its medium-sweet with just a hint of dryness and a slight sparkle to balance. It’ll be scorned by cider purists, but I enjoyed it as a refreshing and thirst-quenching summer tipple, which is no doubt what it’s intended for.
