Oh we, the Sons of Hector
Who fought the barren seas
Who arrived here on these foreign shores
Pushed down on bended knees
Too few of us did leave Lochbroom
And fewer still who landed
Not a provision shared amongst us
In a new world were we stranded
This legacy we leave to you
Our banner yours to carry
The fighting spirit of the Highlands
And an ale for making merry.

473ml can. Pours a hazy red-brown with bits of yeast that sink to the bottom and a medium, creamy, short lived, tan head that laces. Sweet aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, earth, caramel and faint nuts. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, chocolate, caramel, molasses, coffee and faint nuts in a dry, mild bitter, leafy hop finish. Light to medium body with an oily texture and average carbonation. Simple, easy to drink.

Catching up some rates from last weeks trip to Newfoundland. Taster at the source. Dark brown faint ruby at the edges and a creamy tan head. Rich caramel and chocolate maltiness with bits of floral earth to counter. Damn tasty for a Brown ale.

Can: Poured a clear deep brown color ale with a large off-white foamy head with OK retention and some lacing. Aroma of dry caramelized malt with light roasted notes is quite pleasant for the style. Taste is a mix of nice dry caramelized malt notes with some light biscuit malt notes. Body is light with good carbonation. Well brewed for style with good drinkability and just enough character.
