Lemmy wrote “(We are) the Road Crew” as a tribute to his crew about his time as a roadie for Jimi Hendrix. He took 10 minutes to write this anthem whilst in a North London studio toilet and in his own immortal words “It was the only quiet place in the building. I had an idea and I needed somewhere to work it through. That is the only song I can remember writing in the toilet."

‘I just love the life I lead,
Another beer is what I need,
Another gig, my ears bleed,
We are the road crew.’

Röad Crew is an American session pale ale packed full of hoppy citrus and blackcurrant flavours delivering a crisp, refreshing, superior taste to celebrate the spirit of the song and those who inspired it.

330ml bottle. Clear, amber colour with small, frothy to macropore, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Cautious, floral and herbal, hoppy aroma, a touch of mint and fresh hay, weak caramel malty basis. Taste is dry, grassy-herbal and minimally floral hoppy, a touch of mint and fresh hay, caramel malty basis without residual sweetness; lasting bitter hoppy finish.

Pours gold from the bottle. The frothy white head soon fades. Aroma has notes of pine and apple. Taste is mldly bitter with both cereal notes and a mild, piney bitterness. What there is in there that reminds me vaguely of Miller High Life, I don't know. Body is light, finish is clean and crisp. Okay.

Bottle. A clear dark golden colored beer with a finger thick white head. Rather malty and bready aroma, with some grassy, fruity and peppery notes. Sort of perfumed. It’s medium to full bodied and smooth, with a decent carbonation. Malt dominated flavor too, nice bitterness that lasts, along with the bready malts. Too malty for me this one, but at least flawless. 170826

Tap at Konttori, Tampere. Clear golden colour, small steady white head. Although it is APA, quite britt malty and flowery nose. Light-bodied. Honeyish and flowery flavour. Suprisingly English. Clean, sessionable.

Cask at the King and Castle, Windsor. Poured a clear medium amber with a long lasting frothy white head. The aroma is malt, tropical fruit, light hop bitter. The flavour is moderate to light bitter with a grainy malt, floral hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Half pint, cask by hand-pump at V-Shed (JDW), shared with Finn. Patchy white head, laces well, cloudy golden body. Aroma of dried fruits. Mixed taste profile of berry fruit and orange peels, notes of caramel beneath. Smooth and dry. An extra score for the attitude and the homage to Motörhead. (Bristol 01.05.2017).
