Brewed from an assortment of American Cascade, Citra and Centennial hops, the distinctive, fruity aroma of Full Amber is highlighted by a hint of grapefruit. This is balanced by Magnum and Perle German hops that produce a marked bitterness and contribute to a graceful, white solid foam head that puts the crowning touch on every glass that’s poured.

330ml can. Pours very dark orange with a large, frothy head. Aroma is lime, orangeade and caramel. Taste has lots of orange with toast on the finish.

330ml bottle from Morrisons. Pours clear red brown with a thin beige head. Aromas of grapefruit, Citra hops, nutty malt. Taste is nutty, malty toffee, light spice, some butterscotch. Bitter finish.

Keg at Paddys bar, Malmo, RBESG ’15 day 2, 21/08/15. Clear rich amber topped with a decent light beige covering. Nose is bready malt, light tropical fruit notes, tickle of pine, straw. Taste comprises melon, biscuit, bready, light tropicana. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Ok amber with a tropical layer.

(Draught at Stockholm Beer & Whisky Festival, 26 Sep 2015) Ruby red colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of red fruit, caramel and burnt rubber. Malty, slightly fruity nose with dried fruit, black-currant, citrus, a touch of burnt rubber, some brown sugar and a balanced citric bitterness. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Quite tasty, they seem to be moving in the right direction with these Pistonheads. Quite nice.

330ml bottle from Tesco - Amber coloured body with thin beige head. Aroma is grapefruit, bread and light caramel. Taste is similar with notes of grapefruit, pine, resin, orange with a bready malt undertone.

[ As Brutal Brewing Pistonhead Full Amber ].Clear medium red amber color with a small to average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, caramelized malt, hay. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average duration, malt extract, caramelized malt, bread, malty. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20150821]

24th Sep 2015: 33cl bottle at home into a Westmalle chalice. Looked lovely, but what does not look lovely in a Westmalle chalice? Red hue to the brew, not really amber at all, the head a quick fading beige coloured covering. Malty nose and initial taste, but as it warms a little in the glass the hop content begins to assert it’s self and a citrusy bitterness arrives. A lot better than I expected to be honest for a lager based beer, dark, amber or not.
