This is a blonde ale, brewed with East Anglian Pale Ale malt and English hedgerow hops. Light and crisp with a lovely biscuit backbone, perfect for the summer. A distinctively different summer bitter delicious served cool. Perfect accompaniment to white fish, prawn & curry dishes. A delicate palate with hints of lemon. Brewed to celebrate all that’s great about the British Summertime!

Cask at the Caley Picture House. Pours clear pale gold with a thin white head. Aromas of light lemon and butter biscuits. Taste is more like hob-nobs. Oaty, with a lemon curd backnote. Crisp finish. I warmed to it.

Aug 2006: I don’t like doing this, but it has to be said. I think this beer is produced by Adnams (who’s other beers I love)to try and get lager drinkers away from cold tasteless, colourless lager. To do this, they have produced a Real Ale which is almost colourless and tasteless. It is straw blond in colour and looks from a distance like a lager, having a white head also, so the advertising man is happy!. It just does nothing for me, there is no aroma, taste or anything else which would let you know it was a beer from Adnams. It is only produced in the summer, when Southwold is full of tourists and the Londoners who have bought half of the village as second homes, maybe they drink it.

Cask at the Hamilton Hall, JDW, London. Pours a clear, light gold with a faint, white head. Doughy malts and nips of yeast on the nose. Sweetish flavor, light toast and spices, some yeast, hints of leafy and herbal bitterness. Light in body with fine carbonation. Some lingering bitterness in the finish, yeast, mild floral notes. OK.
