When Sue Hayward asked us if it we'd brew her multi-award winning famous pale ale and told us she'd give us the recipe and even come along to "supervise" the brew, how could we refuse? Keeping the Waen name alive is our priority and we're brewing this beer unlike our own; the fermentation temperature is different, the recipe looks very little like one of ours, and the whole ethos of the brew has been followed as closely to the original as possible. Containing a smidge of real lemon extract and lots of citrussy cascade hops for a citrus explosion

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; hazy Amber pour with a tiny white head, lemon puff biscuit aroma, taste has biscuity malts, a hint of lemon, lacks condition, stagnant carbonation.

500ml bottle from Beer Me Up Scotty, Shrewsbury. Pours clear gold with a distinct lack of sparkle. No head and no discerning aroma. Taste is flat, watery & tasteless with certainly no lemon to speak of. Very disappointing. Willing to try again on draught, but won’t be spending money on another bottle.
