One of our most award-winning recipes, we brewed this English-style old ale in 2010 as part of our annual Decadence series to celebrate our fifteenth anniversary. We then matured a small amount in premium bourbon barrels for over a year to add layers of complexity to its rich, malty profile. Now, notes of oak, vanilla, and bourbon from the barrel combine with the beer's molasses, treacle, and burnt toffee character to make this limited release worth the wait.

Bottle, now almost 9 years old, so pretty much old money... Pours an almost black colour and a brown head that almost immediately disappears. Aroma's: sweet, toffee/molasses, dried fruit, figs. Retronasal a bit more fruity, sweet, bourbon, toffee, also a bit oxidized. Flavour is sweet with some fruity sourness. Alcohol feel is strong, but not too sharp. Medium bodied. Long finish. I guess a bit past its prime, but (still) very enjoyable.
