Tap at Hogshead, Wolverhampton Pours a very dark reddish brown with a small cream head and good lacing. Vanilla and chocolate in the nose, yes. But almost something strange like a peaty malt whisky. In the mouth the initial impression is that it is slightly sour with gooseberries, and a creamy texture. A bit of vanilla, but not much. Finish has dark fruits and alcoholic warmth. A bit of a strange one.

Cask @ Salopian. Pours deep dark brown, small beige head. Sweet aroma of vanilla, chocolate. Room temp seems to not affect this too much. Very smooth and creamy on the palate with a good vanilla / chocolate character. Nice.

Cask, shared with Finn at the Famous Royal Navy Volunteer. A patchy beige layer leaving spotty lacing down the glass. Near black in body appearance. Cocoa nose. Black malty flavours of cocoa and coffee on a backbone of subdued vanilla. Slightly roasted endnotes. Rounded on the swallow. Pleasant and not that sweet. (Bristol 29.04.2017).

Licorice. Coffee. More of a mild than a stout for me. Descent enough.
