[RBESG, Sheffield] Grand Tasting @ The Halequin, Sheffield... Black/Brown color with a very thin brown head. Roasted malt, coffee, toffee and vanilla. Very nice aftertaste. Rather thin bodied.

RBESG Sheffield 2009 Grand Tasting at the Harlequin. Deep dark brown to black colour, beige head. Aroma of cream and vanilla, roasted malts. Flavour is vanilla, cream, roasted malts, coffee, coffee bitterness in the finish. Good stuff.

Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, dusty, moderate to heavy vanilla. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, and a dry finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [i] Bottle picked up from their tap near Sheffield, by my dad, cheers dad, had this 28-12-07 [/i] Pours almost black but not quite on holding it to the light it actually is just a very dark brown with a nice white head, with osme bubbles around the side of the glass. Aroma is slightly malty but with the best will in the world I failed to get much else on the nose. Taste was first off great bitterness snd the realy lovely roasted malts but there is a tantalising creaminess and with an old fashioned flavour of vanilla one that reminds me of those old Walls blocks of cornish Ice cream in short [i] lovely [/i] it even manages to finish a bit dry, another top notch beer from Thornbridge Hall, loved this!

Cask handpull at Market Porter, Borough. Black beer with brown edges. Tan head. Wonderful burnt malt, charcoal aroma. More wonderful vanilla creamyness in mouth. Great sweet/vanilla stout. Lovely

Cask Good tan head for a British ale; red-ruby highlighted black beer. Wood as from casks, a bit sweet, slightly roasted as from the roasty bits of a, well, roast - still following? Further some perfumey notes, not really vanilla. Vanilla-infested, however, perfumed taste; wood with a bitter end that clashes. Unbalanced - to put it mildly. Creamy texture, like a nitrokeg beer. Ouch. Easy on the vanilla, please.
