Pours deep mahogany into a stem glass. Tan micro head with excellent retention recedes to skim surface. Dark caramel, pit fruit and molasses aromas. Soft with sweet dark pumpernickel and molasses upfront turning to hot, earthy caramel in the medium length finish.

On tap at the brewery. Pours brown. Biscuit, caramel, plum liqueur, Christmas cake. Full body. Just a bit hot.

Tap at New England Brewing Company, New Haven. Color is slightly cloudy brown with small white head. Aromas and flavors: Bread, some sweetness, some syrup and malts. OK but little bit of easy on the malty side.
