Bourbon barrel aged American strong ale finished on coffee beans and coconut. This strong ale is malt-rich with a syrupy caramel base that melts into the silky coconut feature. An exclusive blend of hand roasted coldbot coffee beans balances the dessert beer with warm, roasty, bitterness. Liquid macaroon!

Bottle shared at Lucky Bamboo share. Thanks Chad! Pours a deep copper to brown with a finger of foam that lingers. Lots of oak and whisky on the nose. Coconut all over the palate with sweet malt, brown sugar, molasses flavors as it warms. Quite sweet as well. Was hoping more coffee would balanced out the sweetness. Some booze and coconut on the finish with some brown sugar. --- Beer merged from original tick of Stronger Than Fiction on 24 Mar 2018 at 16:59 - Score: 8

Bottle @ Uiltje Bar, small sample. Deep clear reddish brown color. No head. Aroma's; sweet, nutty, coffee, light cocos. Retronasal it's sweet, syruppy, fruity, rum, cocos, light roasty. Flavor is heavy sweet, light roasted, light bitter, a bit alcohol. Rather strong alcohol feel. Full bodied. Long finish with cocos, boozy, sweet, fruity. An explosion of flavors, perhaps not too balanced, but very nice.

2017 500mL bottle drunk 9/20/17.
Clear auburn, no sediment left behind. Immediately-fizzling, beige head.
As expected, this rum bourbon strong ale, pretty closely approximating a barleywine, smells like caramel-maple-rum. But it's got a general "softness" to it showing plentiful base malt and perhaps barrel tannin, leaving little/no booze on the end, which is impressive for its size. With more warming/breathing, it picks up a raisin-toffee character, continuing to highlight the malt and barrel interaction. I don't get any coconut in the nose, which is fine with me and even the coffee is consigned to just mildly fruity, earthy notes.
In the mouth, it's lightly syrupy with a boisterous red and yellow fruit character highlighting the specialty malt and coffee. Rum-like spice cuts through the somewhat syrupy body, attempting to achieve balance. The complexity of all of these fruit flavors is impressive and while the beer is certainly on the sweeter side, it's not obnoxiously-so. Alcohol dries out the finish, as well and there is low, somewhat loose carb and the beer feels filtered. Lots of sharpness building up on the palate and lingering.

Bottle shared by Marcus. Pours clear, dark and ruddy with a transient tan head. Aroma of nice coffee, and with a super deep inhale, rum! Amazing aroma. Med + body. Flavor is coffee and rum in a light way, and the bourbon is hard for me to find.
