This spontaneous fermented beer has been aged in Hungarian oak barrels and appears with a light amber color with almost no head.

The aroma is huge and very vinous. A clear impression of oxidized apples is the first thing that hits you, which made us think of heavy old fashioned British apple ciders. The aroma also reveals the wooden notes from the barrels along with some burned toffee and spices like Star anise.

It has a very heavy acidic profile at first, one that quickly slides into a smooth kind of sweetness. We taste green apples, carambola and very young green grapes. It has a certain lactic acidic touch and a creamy dry finish that lasts forever and bares the green impressions through.

Some mild creamy blue cheese on roasted rye bread would work great due to both the lactic and acidity impressions in this beer.

Golden. Nose is sweet with grape skins. Pretty gueuze like. Taste is nice with just the right amount of sour but finish is super buttery

Leighton 10K tasting at Bruce’s pad. Light haze on this gold beer, small.pale cream coloured head. Palate is light and a little crisp from the fine carbonation. Modest sourness. A lemony winey vibe. Trace of wet wood. Light crisp finish. Nice.

Bottle split at the Black (IPA) Friday tasting, thanks to Kenny, 09/05/14. Very lightly hazed golden orange with little in the way of a head. Nose is tarte fruit, bitter citric rinds, soured apple, funk, lemon rind, dank wood notes. Taste comprises tangy lemon, bitter orange, soured citrics, hay, funk, farmyard, dank wood, musty pangs. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Nice Lambic.

Bottle shared in London - many thanks to Kenny! Pours clear, orange-gold with a fine, creamy white head. Great aroma, nice grass, moderate funky lemon, pale wood. Light-medium sweet flavor with assertive sourness, balancing sturdy grassy bitterness, biting lemon. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Clean, grassy finish, lightly burning, hints of cereal in the background, more lemon, slight melon. Solid gueuze.

Bottle at Bruce’s. It pours hazy golden orange with a small white head. The nose is soft, fruity, sherbet, stewed orange, candied peel, florals, vanilla and juicy fruit. The taste is crisp, tart, orange peel, some acidity, lemon sherbet, Granny Smith apple, lime, cream cheese and wood with a dry finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. Well rounded gooooze. Nice work.
