Bottle. Clear-looking, dark brown body with a reddish hue. The head is tan and creamy, and leaves nice lacings as the beer is consumed. The aroma is slightly sour, with lots of roasted malt and coffee like scents. Surprisingly thin body for a 7.2% ABV stout, but there’s also a sweetish feeling. Flavorwise, it has burnt malt, a little fruity note, a pleasant oxidation in the background, and a coffee-like bitterness. Licorice too. The finish is long, with bitterness, mostly coffee-like bitterness, some licorice, and dried fruits. A little warming touch from the alcohol too. The beer is a bit "different" but quite nice. Not too drinkable though. But I like it... (071114)

Bottle at Chris_o Shindig. Black, tan head. Toffee. Bit over carbonated. Fine, bit too much toffee, too sweet, some tingly spice on end.

Small dark brown head disappears immediately. Opaque black body. Sweetish earthy licorice aroma. Deep, dense licorice and chocolate taste, sweetish, with notes of wild berries. Very harmonic. Soft, smooth mouthfeel. Dry, burnt chocolate aftertaste with acidic notes. Some alcohol heat. Very nice! Drinkable and interesting. (0.5l bottle.)

Bottled. A pitch black beer with next to no head only a rim of brown head next to the glass. The aroma is sweet and very roasted combined with notes of soy sauce, alcohol, wood, and dark bitter chocolate. The flavor is sweet with notes of hard roasted malt, chocolate, wood, leather, and caramel, leading to a dry and very bitter finish with notes of chocolate lingering.. The body is a bit thin inspite of the 7.3% ABV. Work on the head retention and body.
