25/2/2023. Bottle from Beer Central, Sheffield. Shared at SBGP1. Pours clear dark mahogany brown with a frothy off-white head. Good looking beer. Aroma of dark fruits, toffee, roasted malt, liquorice, bread, nut, tobacco and a little ashtray. Moderate sweetness, medium bitterness and body. Slightly creamy, average carbonation. Enjoyable.

Panda at home, thanks to Graham/Grumbo, 11/03/23. Extremely dark mahogany brown with a beige covering that thins to a swirl. Nose is caramel, hint of candied orange peel, nutty, dark malts, stewed fruits. Taste comprises fruit cake, light spice, dark malts, treacle toffee, molasses, spice, bread pudding. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Tasty drop and a solid example of the style.

500ml bottle [courtesy of Grumbo - thanks Graham!]. Clear, darkest ruby colour with average, creamy, moderately lasting, minimally lasting, beige head. Sweet-ish, fruity, malty aroma, notes of dark fruit, plum, red and blue berries, dried dark fruit. Taste is bitter, roasty, dark malty, fruity and slightly peppery, yeasty spicy, hints of dark fruit, dried dark fruit; lingering, bitter hoppy and peppery finish. Creamy-watery texture, smooth and soft palate, very fine, prickly carbonation. Nice fruity flavours, relatively light, not overly complex - enjoyable.

Sample thanks to Ashton McCobb. Pours dark brown with a thin off-white head. Aromas of prune, leather, tar almost. Taste has toffee maltiness, more dark stone fruit. Clean finish. Good winter warmer.

Bottle from Craft & Berry. Appearance - deep brown to black with orange chinks. Off white to tan head. Nose - toffee, prune, raisin and leather. Taste - prunes again, leather and smoky liquorice or cardamom. Palate - close to medium bodied. Sweet and rich through the middle. The finish has just enough malt bitterness to have you returning soon for more. Overall - lovely stuff.

Cask. Chantry Inn, Handsworth, Sheffield. Clear, chestnut brown, verging on ruby red. Thin and dense, lasting, pale beige head. Not sure a beer could look any better. Nose has cake mix. Lots of vine fruit and toffee. Hint of baked apple. Toasted malts. Buttered toast. Smells great. Taste is pretty sweet, with a decent amount of vinous bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel. No trace of the ABV. Fine carbonation. Lingering vine fruit bitterness to finish. Fantastic beer in stupendous condition.
