With these Belgian cherries we made this (very!) Limited edition. With 250g of fresh Schaerbeek cherries per liter, re-fermented in the bottle, this Oude Kriek has a very characteristic cherry flavor with a very soft aftertaste.

In collaboration with HORAL (the High Council for Artisanal Lambic Beers) and the Province of Flemish Brabant, we are currently testing various subspecies of the kriek to make an automated harvest in Belgium possible for the first time. The total available quantity of this cherry today is only about 6% of the amount of cherries that our brewery now needs annually. (For all our fruit beers we work with fresh fruit that fermentes naturally with the beer. No juices or concentrates are added.) An automated harvest can ensure that the harvest can be continued in Belgium, the quality monitoring can be good. happen and, above all, that more of this beautiful cherry is available again. It is a large and difficult project, but if you taste the fine result of these cherries in the beer, it is immediately clear that this is more than worth it. And we are just at the start ... Santé!
