Bottle looks good. Beer in the glass deep black, nice head. Starts strong but not alcoholic, fine malty-roasty, dry background. Also some earthy notes. Well balanced, warming finish. Great beer!

Half-litre bottle: best before 7th June 2014. Poured (twice) into a leffe badged stemmed goblet at home on 8th Dec 2012. Really deep, dark brown/ruby: almost black, on top a tan head that faded a bit too swiftly for my liking. Loads of chocolate in the nose and taste, Camp Coffee too (remember that stuff?): also reminded me of a rich, creamy Dandilion and Burdock sort of flavour (who remembers that stuff as well?). Now add a liquorice stick to the mix and some hops to give a slightly bitter undertone and you’re half way to tasting and smelling what I did during my review (on my own). I thought the alcohol well hidden with the flavours masking the 7.5% ABV nicely: all in all, a very pleasant brew. One of the best German beers I’ve had for some time.

Bottle. Pretty dark chestnut colour with golden lace. Sweet mik chocolate aroma. I am basically getting a praline base flavor: Chocolate, eggnog/creme and coffee, a bit licorice root, light hop bitterness on the back of the palate. Medium body with a creamy mouthfeel. Cappucino retronasal. A bit strange, but once you accept it as a dessert not too bad really.

Bottle 50 cl. Black with a noce lightbrown head. A roasted malty aroma with chocolate and dark fruits. The taste is bitter with a sweet but roasted end and coffee end to it, i like
