50 cl swing top bottle (and that’s a plus). Yellow color, rocky white head, some particles in suspension. Quiet nose. Bready malts, a bit grainy, straw, something like cardboard reminding me of supermarket canned pilseners. Taste is not exciting, minimal malts sweetness then a bland hops balance. Texture tends to be oily, thin bodied, average carbonation. Pretty neat but and easy to drink, but far from a proper Helles, average.

This helles has a bit of an edge, a sharp hoppy bitterness. Pours clear golden with short foamy head. Sparse carbonation. Aroma is malt and a touch of citrus. Taste is crackers, sourdough, hops and lemon. After working all day on a hot day, this tastes pretty darn good.

50cl bottle from Munich Airport. Pours clear pale golden with a white head. Mild malty aroma with some fruity notes and hints of cooked vegetables and metal. Medium sweet with a grainy sweetness and some slightly unpleasant flavours. Finishes lightly bitter with some slightly sour notes. A bit watery with slightly soft carbonation. Quite boring and far from impressive, but quite drinkable. I’m not sure if I could tell this apart from a pale lager in a blind tasting.

(swing top bottle) Clear, pale golden colour with a mid-sized foamy white head. Sour doughy nose with hints of grassy and metallic hops. Mildly sweet flavour, light to medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Doughy malt character with a touch of bitter hops; quite dry and moderately bitter hoppy finish with a discreetly papery malty touch. 09.IV.13
