Double Pale Ale named for the way brewmaster David Beardsell's head explodes when things inevitably go wrong. This beer is a testament to the realities of running a small business and the ability to adapt, as we had to get creative when a brew went awry (ie. add a whole lot of hops) to produce a brand new product!

Okay medium copper and modest foam, very soft caramel on the nose which belies its high alcohol. Flavour is medium caramel, modest amber hops. Full finish and crisp lager notes. Alcohol invisible. You know, this is simple but delivers well on a Friday afternoon - I shouldn't complain.

650mL bottle, pours a clear copper amber with a medium beige head. Aroma brings out lots of obscured earthy hops, some herbal and vegetal notes, and toasted biscuity malt. Flavour brings out lots of earthy hops, lots of dry bready caramel, some resins, and ample booze. It's rough and lacking cohesion, but fairly drinkable and pleasant despite the boozy harshness. Decent but leaves much to be desired.

Draught at Alibi Room, Vancouver
Dark amber color, hazy. Mild dusty malts in the aroma, not enough expression. Round body, not too thick; mild malt flavor, some caramel, lightly earthy overall, with dusty vegetable hops in the final. The alcohol content is well managed.
Drinkable beer, no flaws, but at this gravity much more is expected.
