Big Job is a BIG beer: 7.2% alcohol, dry as a bone and jammed full of Cornish barley and as many Citra and Centennial hops.

0,5 l bought at Bierland Hamburg. Asked for US beers, Esther recommanded me this beer with the words "choose one from the motherland" and showed me on the backside label the word-combination hops hops hops. An unclear orange golden in the glass, small head. More maracuja than the expected grapefruit on the nose. Starts very smooth with peach and maracuja, light hop sharpness in the background. Very mild, not a herb or bitter hop hammer. Mid bitterness in the aftertaste. A little bit too fruity sweetness in my opinion.

Not quite reaching the thresholds of an Imperial IPA with this one. The aroma was a nice hit of citra and centennial hops. I was expecting the traditional malt balance of English IPA’s, but this was closer to an American IPA, definitely hop forward. The taste was slightly watered down, nice and crisp and refreshing with the floral and citrus hops, just enough bready malts to bring this to a quality finish. ABV is low for an imperial, hop levels are low for an imperial, but taken as an IPA by itself, not bad.

Bottled, 0.50l. Clear deep golden color with large frothy white head, fair lacing and fizzy visible carbonation. Aroma of citrus, pineapple, lychee and passion fruit. Taste starts with refreshing grainy malt, mildly toasted, following is more herbal than fruity, mouthfeel is warming, while finish is moderate bitter with long lasting aftertaste. Medium to full body, dry texture and fizzy carbonation in palate. Promising aroma quickly turns into neverending dryness...

Bottle: Golden and hazy with an orangey sheen, spicy dry piney-grapefruity nose, small off-white head; moderate dryish bitter-sweet flavour, barely medium bodied; lingering dryish citrussy and piney finish. Good, but not too complex…

Cask-conditioned at the Beer Emporium, Bristol 6/12/2013. Golden in colour with a slight white head. Big, grapefruit and pineapple aroma. Flavour had more citrus and tropical fruits, some cereal mlats and a lingering, dry finish. Good.

Shared it, and got thing I did because it’s just strong. It pours with a clear and golden color and a decent and not really thick white head. The aroma is extremelly pleasant. Sweet and fruity thanks to the citra hops (on of the best aromas out there). The taste is completely different, especially after such a smell. It’s bitter, hoppy, bitter and hoppy. A very strong taste with a bit too much bitterness for me. The aftertaste is also very bitter and I can still feel it. A good beer, but not really for me.

Cask at Charllie’s Bar, Copenhagen. An amber beer with a beige head. The aroma has notes of fruits, malt, and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel, malt, alcohol, and fruits, leading to a bitter finish.
