Our champion Mild has a smooth character and taste notes of chocolate malt, which gives this beer plenty of flavour and belies its strength. A British classic crafted to our brewers special recipe makes this a nutty mild and despite being only 3.2% abv it's packed full of flavour.

Hobsons Mild is brewed in the style of a traditional dark coloured Mild ale, using Maris Otter malting barley, pale chocolate malt and crystal malt and British variety hops Fuggles and Goldings from Worcestershire.

In 2019 The Champion won GOLD at the regional CAMRA Champion Beer of Britain Awards!

[March 2022] Dark brown with a frothy tan head and a malty and slightly nutty aroma. The malt prevails in the taste, along with a little more nuttiness, hints of chocolate coming through with a nice softly bitter finish, all just a little thin really

Cask at Cellar, Chester – as Champion Mild (have drunk it before under previous names !). Pours a ruby red with a small off-white head and good lacing. Aroma is not overwhelming but does have some nuts and malts. In the mouth it is creamy, soft and slightly sweet. Malts are to the fore, but there’s also a decent fruitiness and hints of chocolate. Finish has some fruit too. This is a good solid mild – though I prefer the Holdens one.
