Cask at Harkers Arms, Chester Pours a dark reddish brown with a small cream head. Nose has a sprinkling of hazelnuts. In the mouth it is disappointingly watery, with not much flavour at all. There are some fruits and some malts as well. Finish is bitter with fruity highlights. A bit nondescript, with not much stout character.

Bottle: Very deep amber coloured, medium-sized stable tanned head, moderate bitter-sweet nose of roasted malt and bitter chocolate, dry dried fruits underneath, creating an illusion of an acidity; moderate dry bitter flavour, pretty light bodied, but - as expected - smooth; lingering dry roasty-bitter and chocolatey finish. A very good sip...

Many thanks to Minutemat. Great coffee roasted beginning. Smooth, malty. Hints of sourness, very dry. Intense malty body, dry and bitter. Lots of roasted caramel and bitterness. Great fantastic beer - especially for this ABV.
