Whitstable Bay Red IPA is a deep red coloured ale that is brewed using the brewery’s own chalk-filtered mineral water and Pale Ale, Crystal, Caramalt, and Roasted Barley malts, with Kentish Challenger hops for bitterness and American Amarillo hops for aroma.

Bottle. Deep amber colour with a mediumsized off-white foamy head. Aromai s toffee, some floral, mild minerals and some citrus tones. Flavour is floral, some caramel malts, toffee and some spruce and pine to it. Smooth. Also a slight Sheps Neame house flavour, which never is a bad thing.

# 2769; 3/2022. As Whitstable Bay Red Ale. Sweet cherries, fruity aroma. Brilliant copper body, off-white head. Malty, fruity, citrus, fresh, drinkable, dry finish. Very good red ale. 0,5 l, clear glass bottle, supermarket, Canterbury (Kent, England).

Bottle from my local off-licence ‘Wine Rack’. Label says: Whitstable Bay Ruby Ale 4.5%. Pours a clear ruby colour with a medium sized creamy off-white head. Aromas of red fruits, berries, toffee, caramel and doughy bread. Taste is again fruity with berries, toffee, caramel and bread. An added touch of citrus and peppery spice with an earthy and also slightly metallic finish. Thin to medium body, average carbonation and slightly oily mouthfeel. Not bad

Clear bottle from Lidl under the false name of Faversham Steam Brewery. Pours clear amber, moderate beige head with some retention and no lacing. Sweet aroma with roasted malts, dried fruit, pine. Its pine that come through quite strongly in the taste with malt and fruit notes, cherries. The finish is a dry light bitterness. Moderate carbonation and body. Its half decent stuff.

Foamy tan head left a creamy cover on a reddish brown still body. Malt & toffee aroma. Medium bodied, well carbonated on the front with light clean back. Malt, berry, toffee & caramel tastes. Refreshing

Bottle at home from Tesco. Served chilled from the fridge after a day out with the family in London. A proper English bitter with plenty of soft malt, but nicely balanced and cut with the Shepherd & Neame bitter house style. A great beer and I would happily buy this again.
