Tsjeeses was brewed for the first time in 2004 but not under that name because we didn’t find a name yet. Different code names like "Dangerous Blonde”, “New Years Blond” were used in 2004 and 2005. While brewing the same beer in 2006, our team got so hit by the beer, at a certain point, somebody said: “Tsjeeses what a great beer”. This batch was bourbon barrel aged.

In my point of view, it is a great beer, a Belgian ale that it is a dream for your tongue, powerful aromas, similar than the caracol nostrad, 21.03.18 at Prélaz.

22 November 2025. GBV Tasting: Struise en kaas feat. Tim DR (Jan Yoens). Cheers to the whole crew!
"No. 11". Clear amber-brown, small, foamy, off-white head. Aroma of dusty old raisins, date, vanilla, old milk chocolate, bourbon, wood, brioche. Taste has sweet old raisin, date & plum in a toffeeish, vanilla- & brioche-like malt body with woody notes. Soft herbal hops in the finish, lots of dried fruits and vanilla lingering, and a dash of warming bourbon alcohol. Medium to full body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Noticeably aged but so elegant and flavourful.

2012 vintage. Aroma of malts, yeast, caramel, sugar, apricots, wood, light bourbon, light spices. Flavour is heavy sweetness, malty and sugary. Alcohol is not obvious. Wonderfully refined taste and impressively well-balanced. Aspects of an English Barley WIne.

Surprisingly no bourbon burn for its age, and somewhat vinous tartness. Complex and delicious.

2011 vintage. Very smooth malty, don't pick up any of the bourbon but do get some vanilla at the end. Full mouth soft carbonation.

11.2 ounce bottle - some of these just popped up at my local bottle shop - label says vintage 2014 - No. 11 - bourbon barrel aged - lightly hazy purple - nose has some banana and clove, chocolate, oak, moderate oxidation, mild background whiffs of acetic acid - flavor is moderately papery/oxidized - medium sweet, with back-end acetic acid sharpness - baked apples, bourbon, moderate spiciness, oak, red wine tannic character - lightly warming finish - okay - past its prime.

Poured from 330mL bottle (pkg 09/11/2016). Clear-ish copper with small off white head. Belgian candi sugar, some booziness, but not specifically bourbon, hint of wood. Has held up despite its age. Not bad.
