We brewed a dark, decadent wheatwine-style ale with chocolate wheat malt to accentuate the richness imparted through barrel-aging. We then divided the beer into three components, laying each down in new American oak barrels with varying degrees of barrel toast and char. This release showcases the toasty, cocoa and woody spice notes contributed from aging in lightly toasted oak barrels. Taste it side-by-side with its medium toast and alligator char counterparts to bring the barrel-aging journey full circle.

Little bit leftover donated thanks to Jop I think? Very dark brown, edge of tan head. Boozy smell, some wheat, lots of caramel. Slight bit of alcohol burn in mouth, unfortunately went flat during transport. Toffee, bit of bitterness, only light bourbon.

Bottle shared with the RateBeer Munich Tasting Group, Tuesday 10th December 2019 at Jonas's, Garching. Pours dark chestnut with a filmy off white head, soft carbonation, boozy and seems to be in a spirit barrel rather than a virgin barrel. Lots of vanilla. Ok, but a little surprising.

Bottle. Very dark with a thin head. Sweet and oaky nose, flavor trends sweet with a long-lasting oaky vanilla boozy note. Doesn't taste like booze from the barrel (as it says new barrels?) but rather from the barleywine itself. Tasty!
