Bottle at home in London - sourced from Beermerchants. Pours clear reddish brown with a large, creamy tan head. Simple lightly toasted bread in the aroma, with accents of brown sugar and ripening fruits. Light to medium sweet flavour, with some earthy bitterness, impressions of cocoa, burnt caramel, brown bread, berries, biscuits. Light bodied with lively carbonation and massaging carbonation. Finishes with a fair amount of earthy bitterness, burnt toast and caramel, more bready malts, toasted leaves, faint cocoa. Decent enough low-octane brown ale.

Bottle from Favourite Beers, Cheltenham. Deep, reddish brown in colour, with a thin, off-white, head. Rich, brown sugar aroma with a hint of Bovril. Flavour was similar with a gentle finish. Ok.

Bottle from Appellation Wines Comely Bank. Appearance - deep amber to red with a decent head. Nose - hazelnuts and toffee and light biscuit. Taste - toffee, nuts and biscuits. Palate - close to medium bodied with a crunchy texture and a nicely balanced finish. Overall - I’d put this somewhere between a bitter and a Scotch Ale. Enjoyable.

330ml bottle from Bottle Bank, Falmouth. Pours deep brown with light nutty malty aroma. Taste is fairly weak with a moderate malty taste, some mild forest floor and faint coffee. Accessible but nothing to write home about.
