A classic country ale, First Call is brewed with a single hop variety for purity and character. The dwarf hop First Gold grows in low hedgerows enabling a better quality harvest. A clean, fresh, distinctive beer with hints of orange and spice from the hop.

Bottle. Orangey amber colour with a slight off-white head. Aroma of tired hops and barley sugar. Flavour was of caramel with a dry finish. Drinkable but not much enjoyment was had.

Bottle: Deep golden to light amber coloured, lacing off-white head; dryish aromatic, a bit cheesy and hoppy nose; moderate bitter flavour, light bodied; lingering bitter finish with traces of toasted malt. Not bad, but absolutely not moreish.......

Huge, creamy head with lots of lace; amber, clear beer. Very whisky-like nose, malty, slightly smokey and lots of honey (the badger would approve). Itโs just not very hoppy. Rather dull, even dusty malt taste; caramel malt. Some oxydation. Has quite some body for a rather low alcohol beer, which only helps to underline the fact that the "First Gold" might be there, but not really in force. Txs. to Jezza for supply!

Bottled. Clear golden, with a small white head. Malt and hops in the aroma, with the malt dominating. Hops, malt and hints of caramel in the flavor. Medium body. I would like to see a more agressive hopping all the way in this one. Rating: 5-4-5-3-12-2.9. (060720)
Bottle. A clear, copper beer with a finger-thick off-white head. Biscuity, fruity nose with citrus and a faint note of fennel. Dry, caramel and biscuit flavor with a decent hop impact giving citrus and grass. Some sweetness, but mostly dry. Medium body, and a caramel finish with citrus, some bitterness and once again some fennel. A decent bitter, sessionable and quenching, but I prefer my beers hoppier. (090708)

500ml bottle from Sainsbury. Pale brown with thin beige head. Yeasty hop aroma. Bit watery in mouth. Some caramel. Depends on what you like, but I donโt care for this however, yeast ho has a certain interest. Interesting rose fruit hop.

Bottle from Morrisons. Amber coloured beer with a small white head, wonderful initial burst of hops, fruit also florally both in the aroma and the taste and pleasantly bitter but this initial full attack of the senses soon dissapears. A very good beer which promised to be even better but couldnโt quite sustain it.

A copper colored beer with a dense light brown head. The aroma is sweet and very hoppy with a distinct lemony acidic note - very fresh. The flavor is sweet and very flowery - almost perfumated, with a touch of caramel in the background, leading to a bitter somewhat carbonated end.
