500ml bottle. Poured a clear medium amber with a frothy white head. The aroma is creamy malt with some light hoppy notes. The flavour is medium bitter with a malt fresh zesty hop palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. A fine English ale.

Xmas present bottle; burnished amber pour with frothy white head, citrus and malt aroma, taste has a hint of spice and some orange. OK.

Bottle. Clear amber, small off-white head that lasts OK. Aroma of the meadow, caramel, mild spices. Light bodied. Dry with moderate bitterness, a hint of roast, oranges, spices.

Bottle @ Home. Pours amber with a creamy light offwite head. Aroma of malt, hay, light spice, sweet fruit. Flavor of malt, light caramel, hay, spice, grassy hops. Medium body, soft carbonation, light bitter finish. 010813

500ml Bottle (EBBC 2013, Edinburgh) - Amber in colour. Earthy hops, dried fruit and lime in the aroma. The taste is earthy and fruity with notes of marmelade and mint in the finish.

50cl bottle shared with Joes @ Cafe Buitenlust, Oirschot. Clear dark amber / red color, small quickly diminishing off-white head. Aroma is fairly faint; slightly malts, caramalts and a touch of fruityness. Taste malts, lightly a touch of fruityness, soft bitterness. Quite decent.

50cl bottle. BBE 03/2013. Clear amber, frothy white head. Floral, citrusy, slightly grainy aroma. Flavor has toffee, hops, citrus, light maltyness. Watery, light bodied.

Not much aroma to this one. A great-looking beer with a nice foamy head, it’s slightly fizzy with a sweet edge. Very drinkable.

Brown 500ml bottle, best before Oct 2007, drank March 2007. Poured into a pint sleeve. Reddy brown, fairly light, but not golden as the name suggests, the name comes from the First Gold hops used to make the beer. Smelt of washing up liquid, but not the lemon flavoured variety. Dry and not overly clean or pleasant taste, metalic flavour, a strange beer. Aftertaste is dry and watery, with a hop feel, nothing much else. Not for me, to dry and uninteresting, there are a lot of better English Bitters out there.
