Import bottle from Sam’s Wines, Downers Grove. Interesting reddish black pour, with a short-lived dark brown head. Sweet stout smell, but with some of the graininess of an import that may have sat around for a while. Taste does have hints of Baltika 6 to it, too, but just in a big grainy texture. A nice sweetness, but also a bit acidic. Well, this is made for a Mediterranean climate, an area most renown for pale lagers in hot weather, so it may succeed with its targeted drinkers. I could enjoy another one. Does leave a milky aftertaste.

Aroma is something of milk verging on souring with dark roasted malt. Very dark color with a dark tan head that laced a bit on its way to a ring. Medium body with near creamy carbonation. A slight bit lactic (aka sour) with some dark roasted malt and a light sweetness. Finish tends to flatten to mild sweet balanced by a very light dark malt burnt bitter. It’s quite pleasant, very drinkable, and fits, I think, a very old English style (say pre-war) which hangs on in strange places. Check out Younger of Alloa Sweetheart Stout.

33 cL bottle. Pours deep brown to black with a dark brown diminishing head. Slight chocolate mild aroma. Flavour is quite metallic and with a light malty note. Ends with same metallic note. Has a quite sweet note too.

bottle - Pours very dark brown with a roast malt and milky aroma. The flavor quite light for a stout with roast malt and those milky qualities. It looks good, but it’s thin and generally unsatisfying.

Pours a very dark brown, almost black with only a small ammount of of light brown head that dissapears. An aroma of coffee and malt. The taste has hints of very bitter chocolate, some burnt malt and an sweeter finish. I really liked it.

Bottled(330ml). -Deep black coloured, small dark brown head, milk chocolate nose. Light sweet roasted malty aroma with notes of milk chocolate, coffee, caramel and lactic sourness. Light dry bitter finish. It starts very sweet, then becomes bitter but also has mild milky aftertaste.

Bottle. Smoked cheddar cheese aroma. Dark black-brown color with small film of a head. Cream cheese/unsweetened yogurt and toasted bread flavor. Fairly light body. An interesting unique beer for number 1500.

Bottled. An opaque brown beer with a brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of over ripe fruit and prunes, while the flavor is sweet malty with ntoes of over ripe fruits, dusty hops, and a bit of chocolate, leading to a dry end. But the body is thin.

I would take this over any of the macro stouts, for sure. Pretty decent for such a low abv. Appearance is the best part though. Black as hell with a small brown head that quickly dissipates. Slightly sweet aroma, with faint roastiness, and lactose. taste is rather unimpressive, just there, dark malts, slightly sweet aftertaste. I will agree on a mineral water aspect as well. Lactose is seen in a pretty decent body with a good strong carnbonation. Feels nice, looks nice, just not much on the flavor side of things. But a beer from Malta, thats nice.
