Cask at the Old Fighting Cocks with BlackHaddock. Dark clear maroon color, tan head. Aroma of dusty cocoa powder. Taste is more earthy than sweet, dry finish. Very tasty.

Hand-pulled half-pint, shared with Gene in Ye Olde Fighting Cocks, Oakengates during our day drinking around Shropshire. Black with a decent and lasting beige head. Nose is chocolate, coffee and cocoa. The taste follows the nose with a smooth blend of flavours with the same chocolate, coffee and cocoa like feel, nice balance. Not too sweet, a well made beer in good condition: wanted more, but we were on a mission.

On cask at Euston Tap, pours black with a small beige head. Nose brings out lactose and some cocoa. Flavour is well-balanced, with cocoa and lactose in good balance. Medium bodied and chocolatey. Solid milk stout.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Poured a clear dark mahogany with a frothy light tan head. The aroma is rich roasted malt, chocolate, caramel. The flavour is moderate sweet with a smooth, creamy chocolate, light liqourice bitter palate. Moderate to full bodied with soft carbonation.

Bottle from Waitrose. Impenetrable dark brown. Hint of chocolate, liquorice, and pine. Sweet taste with a resinous citrussy tone. Velvety smooth, very full for the ABV and style.
