Cask at The Hanging Bat. Pours black, thick, long-lasting tan head. Aromas of coffee and chocolate, light liquorice tang. Taste brings a light fruit sweetness, but mostly more chocolate. Rich and creamy mouthfeel. Really very nice.

Bottle. It pours a very dark brown body, clear-looking and with a small, dense, dark beige to light tan head. The aroma has some roasted malts and bonfire hints, with milk chocolate and a pleasant hoppy touch. It’s medium bodied and with a very soft carbonation level. Some licorice notes in the flavor, with roasted malts, bonfire and milk chocolate, and a nice hoppy bitterness in the back. Lasting roasted finish with piney and citrusy hops blending in. Sure a nice one, very tasteful and at the same time easy drinkable. 140816

Pours black with a small light tan head.Nose shows roasted malt, cocoa, milk chocolate. Appetising.Flavours follow along the same lines: dry roasted malt, cocoa and a little underlying sweetness from the lactose. Very easy-drinking stuff.Body feels a little watery.

Cask @ Fox & Goose, Hebden Bridge. Dark and clear so not quite black with a creamy off-white head. It has a creamy milky texture too with a light roasted malts nose with the chocolate more evident in its taste.

Bottle 500ml (AbM)
Deep ruby color, good creamybeige head, some lace. Sweetish caramelly aroma with some licorice, toasted maltyness. Medium-bodied, good for this ABV. Caramel, licorice, cough syrup, Finish has some herbal hoppyness. Quite robust porter for being 4.5%. Very good light sweet stout.
