Tsjeeses was brewed for the first time in 2004 but not under that name because we didn’t find a name yet. Different code names like "Dangerous Blonde”, “New Years Blond” were used in 2004 and 2005. While brewing the same beer in 2006, our team got so hit by the beer, at a certain point, somebody said: “Tsjeeses what a great beer”. This batch was bourbon barrel aged.

From bottle at Cardinal 09.11.14. Clear amber. Dense off-white head. Very sweet aroma of dried fruits and dried red berries. Burnt print cards, berries and medium.dark malt in taste and aftertaste.

Tasted as Tsjeeses Reserva and as Tsjeeses Reserva Bourbon Barrel Aged - according to this site, that is apparently the same thing. Luxury version of the already great Tsjeeses with a thinnish but creamy, off-white head and misty orange peach blonde colour. Very complexely perfumed bouquet of cider, peach juice, gingerbread, orange peel, yoghurt, bread, eggs, meat broth, oak tannins, cognac, pineapple; apricot and pineapple in the onset, refreshing, citrus, caramelly and soft honeyish malt sweet backbone, gingerbread-like complex spiciness, yeastiness, soft herbal hop bitterishness in the end with a brandy- and indeed bourbon-like alcohol effect, only adding to complexity without becoming obnoxious. Pimped Tsjeeses indeed and, really, a world class masterpiece.

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein trübes oranges Bier mit schöner Schaumkrone. Geruch sehr malzig, röstig, dunkles reifes Obst. Geschmack röstmalzig, stark malzig, überreife Früchte, Karamell.

Hazy orange colour. A little wood and sweet bourbon come through in the aroma. Texture is quite thick and rich also a bit sticky. Nice mix of bready yeast, dried fruits and malt. Bourbon barely traceable in the flavour but overall a very tasty beer.
