Copper colour with thin head. It’s got some light malts and caramel. Overall a bit sweet and bland.

Bottle @ The Hague Tasting. Clear orange golden color, average sized off-white head. Smell and taste malts, a hint of bitter, lightly yeast. Drinkable but boring.

25cl, Best before 06.15. The beer is quite neutral. Hints of yellow fruits, a bit neutral. Plain bitter, slightly perfumed sweetish, slightly bitter, not too deep.

Wederom een bier waarbij het aroma beduidend beter is dan de smaak oogt koper/bruin helder met schuimige witte kraag welke snel verdwijnt. aroma van gist, gerst, floraal. smaken zijn matig zoet, zwak bitter, graan, gist, caramel, bruine suiker, iets droog, kalk, lichte noten. zwakke body, dun van textuur en iets droog in de afdronk. mwah --- Beer merged from original tick of Ginder Ale on 15 May 2018 at 21:13 - Score: 5

Traditional ’spéciale belge’ with anglicized name as was custom in the time it was launched. Yellowish white, regular head, pure amber colour with orange hue, cristal clear. Soft nutty malts in the nose, flowery hops, corn, ’cooked’ pasteurized smell, celery, apple, apricot, cookie dough, powder sugar. Light taste, malt sweetness, bit of caramel, hint of nuts but then there is the sickly corn again, mild herbal hop bitterness in the finish. InBev took this over from Martinas in 1991 where it had been created by a man called Van Ginderachter, hence the name. Faded glory that, like so many other old local Belgian beer traditions, fell into the hands of InBev when it was still Interbrew and made a case out of keeping such traditional beers artificially alive for the sake of their name only. Pity.
