Bottle shared on the 42nd floor - many thanks to Fergus. Pours clear brown with a frothy beige head. Sugary brown bread in the nose, some cola, burnt herbs. Light sweet flavor with subtle earthy bitterness, mild cocoa, toast. Light bodied with average carbonation. Finishes with light burnt toast, hints of cocoa, burnt caramel, earth. Drinks pretty good.

Bottle on level 42 thanks to Fergus. Not for you! It pours black with a medium dirty white head. The nose is toasted action, roasted malt, chewy, cooking chocolate and damp wood. The taste is smooth, slightly bitter, cocoa, toast, earthy, roasted malt and wood with a short, drying finish. Medium body and moderate, foamy carbonation. Decent Schwartz.

Bottle at the level 42 tasting V1.5 05/04/16, thanks to Fergoos. Dark chestnut brown with a decent beige covering. Nose is light charr, toffee, fruit esters, spice. Taste comprises fruit loaf, trace of yeast, toffee, grain, faint charr, earthy berry, hint of liqourice, raisens, dried fruit. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Decent enough for style.

Bottled 500ml. -from Rudat Dortmund. Dark brown coloured, medium sized pale beige head, whiff of roast in the nose. Slight roasted malt, sweet caramel, and heavy sugar presence with notes of dog food in rather dry finish. Typical Oettinger; not good not bad, JUST (below) average.

Thanks Ogi! There seems to be no end to these Oettingers.... Dark amber-tinged brown body with an off white/tan head that went away relatively fast. Vague malty aroma, raisins, dry, sweet. Unpleasant sweet malty taste, raisins, dog food, almost no bitterness - and what little there is is unimpressive, thin, empty. Sorry but no...

Can. As Oettinger Schwarz. Dark brown with faint red hues and a nice, slowly-dissipating, big tan head. Aroma of malt, caramel, a bit of chocolate, dark bread, toast and a light roasty touch. Sweet flavor, malty, caramelly, somewhat sugary, with some dark bread, toast, a nutty note and faint bitterish and roasty hints in the finish. Too sweet, but passable.

Western German interpretation of the style with creamy, light beige, opening head and very dark burgundy colour, blackish but still transparent, clear. Straightforward caramel aroma, toasted bread, coffee, some bitter chocolate, floral hops, dried fruits, iron. Caramel taste, soft and slick, metallic, one-dimensional roasted bitterness, bit thin but still ensuring a long finish. Mediocre, in all.
