12 ounce bottle. Hazy amber orange color topped by a big rocky beige head. Lovely sweet roasted malt nose balanced by a subtle citrus hop bouquet with hints of caramel apples. Nice bittersweet hops in flavor. Noticeable caramel malt creaminess. Smooth and drinkable with a spicy aftertaste. Very refreshing, but rather tame compared to other West Coast IPA’s.

Location: Draft at the Yard House - Honolulu, 7/5/12

Aroma: The nose is dry hops, caramel malts, grapefruit and citrus hops
Appearance: It pours a dark orange-amber pour, off-white head, heavy, sticky lace
Flavor: The taste is lightly sweet and mid-heavy bitter, pretty similar to the nose
Palate: The body is medium-plus, with a sticky feel, soft carbonation, and a lingering dry finish
Overall Impression: I felt like this one was a very nice IPA for sure. It is on the dry side for sure, but overly aggressive by any means. Very solid stuff.

12oz bottle poured into a tulip. Pours a cloudy dark amber with about a finger of thick white head. Aroma is dominated by grapefruit and citrus with just a hint of caramel malt in the background. Taste is medium bitter. Pine and citrus with some caramel again in the background. Medium bodied with a suprisingly sticky texture. Lively carbonation and a long bitter finish. Overall, great. I would love to drink it again.

nice copper/amber color, thick firm head (but not too much). Hops are not prominent in the aroma; rather there is more of a caramely malt odor to the beer, with just a hint of pine. The taste hits you with the hops up front, not citrusy but rather piney and bitter, quickly overtaken by the malts. All in all a nice beer, not really in the same category as my favorites (I like more Simcoe hops), but very tasty nonetheless.

Bottle. So welcome to Oregon, MrBunn! This is from a six pack I enjoyed while in the Pacific Northwest. Pours the color of an old penny (maybe just a little lighter, but kind of that tarnished copper look... no, not green, stop being stupid.) Aromas are fairly mild. A little bit of caramel malt and herbal and resin from hops is about it. Flavor is much more robust, but an interesting take on the style, given all the citrus and tropical fruit bowl blasts in your face out here. It has quite a bit of that fruitiness up front (with the malty sweetness, of course), but fades into a resin and herbal finish that makes it interesting and somewhat unique.
